The Transitional cases appeared with many curves and finials. The dials were
usually two-piece porcelain with a brass chapter ring insert. As the cases
became more ornate, so did the clock's hands. The plain bezel was primarily
used, but the ornate piecrust bezel could still be found on clocks during this
period.
Plain brass weights and a pendulum bob with a metal backing (zinc) were used.
The pendulum rods were wood. Movement mounts were both the wood (where the
movement would slide in) and the brass type (where the movement would affix to
four posts that fit - and lock into place - in four holes in the backplate of
the movement). The coil or gong chime was again used more frequently. The one,
two and three weight movements could all be found during this time period.
