Dead Beat Escapement

"Beautiful Walnut Case With Rosewood Accents

Maintaining Power!

Original Glass

Clean & Runs Well

Circa 1880

The clock is time only and has a dead beat escapement and maintaining power - so it doesn't lose time when you're winding the clock. Maintaining power is a very sought after feature when looking for a clock and a dead beat escapement, just further accentuates the high quality of this clock! Overall, the clock is very simple and pleasing to the eye in its application. The case is made from a very nice grade of Walnut accented with hints of Rosewood, just enough to give the clock a little definition.

The case measures 46" in length, 16" wide at the top, 14" wide at the bottom and 7" deep (there are glass panels on the sides of the clock). The pendulum measures ~26" in length and the dial measures 7 1/2" to the outside of the bezel. Shipping dimensions are 37" in length by 16" wide by 7" deep and 19 pounds.

The dial is a two-tiered porcelain dial with a brass metal insert and a brass bezel. The dial is in immaculate shape with no hairlines, cracks or chips or any kind!! The dial also has its own seconds bit.

The case is far from ostentatious, but rather very simplistic in its application. It has a simple pediment top with Rosewood along the top edges and a simple rosette in the center. The sides are straight and clean, again with Rosewood lining the area next to the front glass. The bottom of the clock gently curves down and inward and then flares slightly out again. To finish all of this off, is a simple finial at the bottom.

The movement is a 8-day movement that is driven by a single weight. The mounting for the movement on this clock are two ramps that the movement slides onto and then screws in place. So all you have to do to remove the movement is to loosen the screws a little and then pull it out - very neat and easy. Be sure to remove the weight first before removing the movement, also the pendulum is fixed to the back of the clock. The clock is in excellent condition, is all original and is not missing any pieces. Also, the clock comes with its own crank, so all you need once you purchase the clock, is wind it up, balance it, and you're all set.
