A Truly Classic Serpentine Clock
A VERY CLEAN Looking Clock

This one weight Serpentine Vienna Regulator was made by Carl Hartel in
Wien (Vienna) Austria. The clock is time only and is a very classic
example of the Serpentine style. It has very simple lines and is very pleasing
to the eye in its overall form. The case measures 42.5" in
length,
13.5" wide at the top,
10.5" wide at the bottom
and 5.25" deep
(there are glass panels on the sides of the clock).
The pendulum
measures ~26" in length and the porcelain dial
is a two tiered dial with a brass chapter ring insert and a brass
bezel that measures 7.25" in diameter. The dial is flawless (i.e. no
chips or hairlines of any sort). Shipping dimensions are 38.5" x 13.5" x 5.25"
and the clock itself weighs 14 pounds.
The case has the beauty of the curved door that is so unique to the
Serpentine style (Please see our Home Page for more information on the Periods that
clocks were made). It has a delicately arched
top with very
attractive finials on either side. It also has the original false grain
finish (black with a red undercoat).
The bottom of
the clock curves gently inwards, and then it flares outward and
is completed with a finial at the very bottom.
The sides
of the door show the gentle and delicate beauty of the Serpentine style.
The movement is
an 8-day movement that is driven by a single weight. The mounting for the
movement on this clock are four posts
that fit - and lock into place - in four holes in the backplate of the
movement. So
all you have to do to remove the movement is to lift it a little and then pull
it out - very neat and easy. Be sure to remove the weight before
removing the movement, also the pendulum
is fixed to the back of the clock in front
of an absolutely beautiful backboard.
The clock is in excellent condition, is all original, and is not missing any pieces.
Also, the clock comes with its own key to wind the clock. So once you purchase the clock, you're all set!!
