In 1860, this 3 week (23+ days) clock was made by Gustav Becker and is called a
"Presentation" clock due to the high quality of the case and movement.
According to the person I bought the clock from, since the clock was to be
used in a presentation, of the Gustav Becker Clock Company, only the highest quality
materials were used. The clock measures 33" in
height and
10" wide at the top,
and is 4.5" deep.
The dial measures
5 3/4" to the outside of the engine turned bezel and is a two tiered porcelain
dial with a brass bezel, a brass inset ring, and a brass keyhole. The dial is
also in excellent condition, i.e. no hairlines or imperfections of any
kind and even has the renown Gustav Becker
logo just below the XII.
The hands are also original and the minute hand is counter balanced to
minimize the torque on the movement. The
pendulum
measures 16 1/2" in length and is in front of a very attractive backboard.
Even though the movement
is not stamped with the typical Gustav Becker logo, I feel that the logo on the
dial and the stamps on the back of the clock, more than justifies the fact that
this is indeed a Gustav Becker clock. I have found this in the past, that some
clocks made by Becker were never stamped, especially the earlier movements. Why this is I'll
never know, but given the additional Becker paraphernalia on the clock, I truly believe
this to be a true Gustav Becker clock.
The case is really, very well made, and very attractive! The Mahogany at the
top has a keystone look to it and you can tell that the entire case was
made with great care. Just look at the quality of the wood used on the
backboard of the case. Also
the bottom
curves gently inward and then flares outward to be finally finished off with a single
finial!
One very interesting aspect of this clock is that the back of the clock has two
Gustav Becker
stamps. These
stamps were used when the clock was shipped. The top
stamp says
"Gesetzlich geschützt" or "Legally Protected" and the bottom
stamp, the
larger of the two, says that the case is from the "Gustav Becker Clock Factory in
Freiburg, Selesia".

will be roughly 3.5% of the final total cost. Also, our International shipping costs do not include
customs and duties fees. Our primary shipper for all cardboard boxes is the United States Postal
Service (USPS). Wooden crates will be shipped by Yellow Freight:
- Very small cardboard boxes, e.g. pocket watches, watch chains, etc.: USPS Postage + Insurance
- Larger cardboard boxes: $25 (to have the item professionally packed) + USPS Postage & Insurance
- Wooden crates, up to, but not including Tall Case clocks (aka Grandfather clocks): $100 (to have
the crate built) + USPS Postage & Insurance
- Tall Case Clocks will be shipped by Craters & Freighters. You can calculate postage through

items in excess of 100 years old. Damages and missing parts which are clearly visible on the

We warranty our items for a seven-day period following delivery, to ensure that the item has safely
arrived at the purchaser's location and is working well. If anything should happen to your clocks
or watches some time in the future, and they should come into disrepair, we can repair them for you.
Just email us and let us know what is wrong with the item (pictures help) and what you would like
done. We will then do our very best to restore your item to its proper working condition.

describe what happened to your package, e.g., the damage to the package, the type and condition of the
packing material(s), your idea of the reasons for the damage, etc. Once filed, please fax or send us a
