Maintaining Power

Beautiful Walnut Case

Dead Beat Escapement

Circa 1874

The clock is time only and has a dead beat escapement and maintaining power - so it doesn't lose time when you're winding the clock. Maintaining power is a very sought after feature when looking for a clock and a dead beat escapement, just further accentuates the quality of this clock. Overall, the clock is very simple in its application. The case is made from a very nice grade of Walnut and has a diamond shaped pattern on the backboard.

The case measures 42.5" in length, 12.5" wide at the top, 12.5" wide at the bottom and 5" deep (there are glass panels on the sides of the clock). The pendulum measures ~24" in length and the dial measures 7 1/2" to the outside of the bezel. Shipping dimensions are 37.5" in length by 12.5" wide by 5" deep and 17 pounds.

The dial is a two-tiered porcelain dial with a brass chapter ring and a brass bezel. The dial is in very good shape with no hairlines, cracks or chips or any kind! However, the bezel is dented in by the number IX. The dial also has it's own seconds bit.

The case is far from ostentatious, but rather very simplistic in its application. It has a simple top with three finials and a simple rosette in the center. The bottom of the clock is fluted and has a simple finial at the bottom to finish it off. So the true artistic charm of this clock, is held in it's beautiful simplicity!

The movement is a 8-day movement that is driven by a single weight. The mounting for the movement on this clock are two ramps that the movement slides onto. So all you have to do to remove the movement is to loosen the screw on the side and then pull the movement out - very neat and easy. Be sure to remove the weight first before removing the movement, also the pendulum is fixed to the back of the clock, so it's not a problem when you have to remove the movement! The clock is in good condition, it's all original and it's not missing any pieces. Also, the clock comes with its own crank. So once you buy the clock, you're all set!

The price for this piece is $1,450.00.

The pictures are really your best guides and they will certainly say a lot more than the best text. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding, as bidding constitutes your acceptance of having seen the description and pictures, and your agreement with this policy.

Damaged Items:
The incidence of damage in our shipments is very low. However, if your item(s) should arrive damaged, please take the following steps to ensure that we are able to properly help you settle your claim:

1) Send us pictures that show the full extent of the damage to the inside and outside of the packing. Please keep the packing until further notice, as it will need to be inspected by the insurance agency.
CAUTION: If you do not keep your packing materials, your claim will be invalid, as the insurance company needs to see the packing material as proof that the damage occurred.

2) File a damage complaint form at your local Post Office, or through whoever delivered the package to you. The same applies to International orders. Typically, the claim form provides the opportunity to describe what happened to your package, e.g., the damage to the package, the type and condition of the packing material(s), your idea of the reasons for the damage, etc. Once filed, please fax or send us a copy of the report. Our fax number is (806) 214-1019, and our mailing address is; Clocks, Pocket Watches, Etc. P.O. Box 83712 Gaithersburg, MD 20883-3712.

3) Finally, please send us a written quote from a local qualified repair company regarding the repair cost, and the estimated value of the damaged item.

THANKS FOR BIDDING AND GOOD LUCK!!!
