Antique Clocks, Pocket Watches, Etc.

Please contact me before following the price eBay quotes for Shipping, as I may have to ship the clock in 2 or 3 boxes for safety (1 box for the Case, then 1 for the Weight(s) & 1 for the Movement, if necessary - we can discuss this to make sure that we meet your needs. Also, if we ship by eBay methods, the clock will most likely not arrive safely!). Plus eBay quotes are not accurate to properly ship a clock of this nature.

Thanks,

Outstanding Gustav Becker Tall Case Clock

All Original!

Absolutely Beautiful Example of an Altdeutsch Style

Circa 1895

Runs Well & Keeps Good Time

A Truly Beautiful Example of a Gustav Beacker Clock!

This Magnificent case is made from a mixture of mahogany, walnut veneers, and solid woods, e.g. the 3" spiral columns, which are partially worm holed are solid wood. The door has the originally beveled glass. The 51" spiral columns that adorn the front of the clock, are hand carved spirals that are 3" in diameter and have beautifully hand carved Corinthian tops. All in all, they are absolutely magnificent ! The clock stands 84 ½" tall, 27 ¾" wide, and 16" deep and has a very deeply resonant "Bim-Bam" strike, which Gustav Becker was so famous for, and which strikes with 5 leather hammers on 5 rods. The silvered dial with a brass edging is 10 ½" inches in diameter.

The decorative styling that surrounds the dial is magnificent and has, just as an example, a wooden circle surrounding the brass ring which surrounds the silvered dial. One of the best of the surrounding decorations around the dial include the epaulettes, aptly enough, with 4 in each corner. The top is finished off with a beautifully carved arch on the very top and has an extremely beautifully hand carved splendor centered on the apex of the clock!

All of this while the bottom of the clock has 4 beautifully hand carved S-styled splendors on each of the surrounding 4 cornices. To top this off, the center is further enhanced by a 5/8" piece of decorative molding, which is surrounded by 1 ½" lattice work. Then the center is broken into 4 triangulated pieces of wood, whose center forms a triangulated convergence, which is beautifully adorned with such decoratively features such as a hand carving that can very easily be called, "a work of art". Finally, this site is decorated with 4 beautifully carved round balls sitting on 4 short risers. Overall, this Altdeutch Clock (Please see our Home Page for more information on the Periods that clocks were made), is all in all, a truly pure example of a very nicely designed Altdeutch Gustav Becker Tall Case Clock.

The price for this piece is $5550.00
