A Very Nice, Comfortable Pocket Watch

Hello, and thank you
for taking the time to look at our listing!

This watch has a very clean Hunter's Case, which although it shows a bit of wear, polishes up very nicely! The cartouch on the front of the case holds the initials, "B.B.D.". On the back of the case, is a hunting scene with a man holding a rifle, next to his hunting dog.

When you push down on the Winding Stem to open the front of the case, you'll see a totally immaculate dial, that has good sized Black Roman numerals, the script words "Elgin Natl. Watch Co.", and beautiful, steel blued hands. The dial has no chips, cracks, or mars of any sort, except for a very small hairline I just noticed when I took the bezel off, by the numeral IIII.

NOTE: It's interesting to note that watch & clock dials use IIII, which doesn't actually exist in the Roman Numeral system, instead of the Roman Numeral IV. Why? Because back when dials were first being used, it was easier for people to add than to subtract. In fact, the earliest clocks were typically in Church towers, and although they would have a space there for a dial, there would be no dial & no numbers, as most people couldn't read, much less add and/or subtract! Then to be truthful, out of the two, adding was easier than subtracting!!

OK, back to the watch.

The time is lever set, with the lever being at the 4:30 position. The front of the case opens a bit beyond the perfect 90 degree angle, but you can always get a watch repairman to adjust the case spring. The front cover opens very easily once you push down on the stem button, and of course, you should always hold the stem button down every time you go to close the cover, so you prolong the life of the cover.

The sides of the case follow the same motif as the rest of the case and are in perfect shape. When you lift up the back of the case, you'll see the weight scales that show this to be a Gold-Filled case. Then when you raise the dust cover, you'll see the all brass, 7-jewel movement, with a balance wheel that is moving with great speed! So you movement is in excellent shape and your watch is keeping very good time!!

Lastly, I trust that you will enjoy owning this watch as much as I have!! Because owning & wearing a Pocket Watch is a true joy, and you should be proud, taking that step back in time everytime that you wind it!!

Please be sure to look at the pictures at the end of the text to see more shots of the Pocket Watch!!
