A True Railroader's Rail Roader's Dream!

Hello, and thank you
for taking the time to look at our listing!

This watch is a nice, hefty, silverine cased Elgin pocket watch, that has 17 jewels, a very clean Nickle movement, which is beautifully Damasckeened, and to top all of this off, the watch has a brass Railroad Train engraved into the back (please excuse the pictures, but it was hard to get a good, clean shot of the train. So that's why there are 3 of them!). When you first look at this watch, one of the first things you notice is that it is extermely easy to tell the time! Nice bold Roman numerals, thick, black hands that come to a very definative point on the last 25% of the hands. I've worn this watch into Movie Theaters, and never had trouble telling the time! If you remember, the ability to easily read the dial of a watch was one of the criteria for being a Railroad watch!!

If you screw off the front cover, you'll notice that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the dial. I.e., no mars, cracks, hairlines or scratches at all! The front of the case has a nice ribbed effect going around the dial, for a little contrast. The back of the dial has the exact same ribbed effect, except it is doubled, both of these are not only decorative, but thery make both the front & back much easier to get on & off!! Lastly, these attractive & utilitarian ribbed circles also encircle a very attractive Railroad Train, with a nice column of smoke trailing back.

When you take off the back cover, you'll see a very attractive movement that has some absolutley beautiful damaskeening, a balance wheel with excellent motion, the serial number (#10248798), which places the watch at circa 1903, and finally a micro-regulator, so you can adjust the watch as accurately as you want it to be!

The only imperfection of this watch, is a very slight one at that, is where the silver finish has worn off of the winding stem from use. But that is only to be expected, from a watch that is over a century old!! Besides that, I think the watch is in very good condition. And speaking from experience, its a nice watch to wear, it has a good heft to it, and you can easily tell the time at a glance, and overall, is just a joy to wear! I hope that you'll like the watch as much as I do!

Please be sure to look at the pictures at the end of the text to see more shots of the Pocket Watch!!
