Hello, and thank you
for taking the time to look at our listing!
This 18 size Rockford Pocket Watch was made in Rockford, Illinois; has a glass crystal, is housed in a
Fahys Coin Silver (90% pure silver) Hunters Case, and has 11 jewels. The sides of the Hunters Case
are ribbed and the watch comes with a nice, and very convenient 9.5" long leather strap with a loop
at the end. The watch is key wind & key set.
To set the time on the watch you first push down on the top of the stem, to open the front of the
case. Then you lift up the crystal from the 6:00 position & use the key to set the time. To
wind the watch, you open the back of the case, then wind the watch through the hole in the dust cover.
Both the dust cover and the back of the case shut with a nice, clean snap, so you are sure that
they are firmly shut. To close the front of the watch, that covers & protects the dial, you should first push
down on the stem, then gently push the cover shut & then release the button.
This is done so you don't wear down on the silver where the snap is. Silver is of course, softer than
the steel the snap is made from. So this action will just lengthen the life of the front cover of
the case.
I've always liked carrying key wind watches, as they give me a true feel for the age of the watch,
and a respect for the ages through which they've passed. If you think about it, you are actually
holding a piece of history in your pocket and something that someone bought 129 years ago!!!
Please be sure to look at the pictures at the end of the text
