Hello, and thank you
for taking the time to look at our listing!
This watch is in such good shape that it belies its age of 118+ years! The case shows some
signs of wear, but not all that much. You can clearly see the case design on both the front & the
back of the case! The front cartouche is clean, if you should ever decide to put your initials in it,
and on the cartouche on the rear cover, is a small scene of a house and a tree. The front cover
opens very easily, once you push down on the stem push button, to a cool, crisp & perfect 90 degree angle!! Of
course, you should always hold the stem button down every time you go to close the cover,
so you prolong the life of the cover. Overall, this case is still in truly remarkable condition!!
The watch is stem wind and lever set for the time, and the lever is at the 5:00 position. The
dial for the watch is in immaculate condition, except for a very minor hairline at the VII position.
When you open the rear cover of the watch, you'll see the 'balance scales' that show that the case is gold
filled. When the watch has been wound, you'll see the exceptionally excellent motion of the balance
wheel, the 4 top jewels (with 4 corresponding jewels beneath them) which complete the 15 jewel compliment, and the words Elgin Natl. Watch Co.
proudly emblazoned on the movement.
Finally, anyone would be proud to carry a timepiece that's almost 6 generations old, in extremely
fine condition, and keeping excellent time!!
Please be sure to look at the pictures at the end of the text
to see more shots of the Pocket Watch!!
