Hello, and thank you for taking the time to look at our listing! I have seen many watches with glass backs, but you can easily tell that they are not display case watches because they have a bow on the stem. The bow on the stem shows that the watch was meant to be carried, not displayed. If you notice, this watch has no bow, so it was meant to be a display case watch and to have a glass back. The watch has a very clean dial, with no mars, scratches, or damage of any sort even when you remove the bezel. The dial is a triple sunk dial and has blue steeled hands, which match the blue letters and even the name "Elgin" is in blue. So it makes for a very pleasing display. The sides of this display case watch are very cleanly ribbed and both the front and rear bezels both pop off very easily with a very slight prying effort. They also pop back into place very easily, with a nice resounding 'pop'. The motion of the balance wheel is excellent, so it just completes the great display that this watch was meant for!
