A Gold Demi-Hunter Pocket Watch
- Made By Herr Carl Engelkemper
- He Had Shops in Muenster & Westfalia, Germany

Circa: 1885

Case: The Demi-Hunter Pair Case is 54 mm in diameter & the Pocket Watch is 50 mm. Both the Gold colored Pair Case & the front of the Watch Case have a smooth front. The back of the watch case has been protected from any wear and tear by the Demi-Hunter Case, and thus has a beautifully intact speckled back with an empty Cartouche. The cartouche is beautifully surrounded by Vines & Flowers, and is ready for your initials!

Dial: The dial is White Porcelain, with an off-white Chapter Ring for the hours, which uses Roman Numerals. The dial is single sunk, with Louie XIV hands and a Chapter Ring in Red Arabic Numerals for the Minutes. There are some minor chips on the edge of the dial that are concealed by the bezel, a few minor hairlines by the right hand corner of the second's bit, and one or two very minor hairlines on the dial itself (I didn't even notice them until I had the dial under a 10x lens).

Movement: A Gilt Plated movement with a Cylinder Escapement.

Professional Opinion:A rather interesting watch, in the fact that the Demi-Hunter case is like a Pair Case, rather than being part of the watch. That gives you the versatility of having either a Demi-Hunter watch, or a plain Pocket Watch! An interesting watch to add to your collection!

Hello, And Thank You
For Taking The Time To Look At Our Listing!

Just As A Note, The Watch Is Running Fine, Keeping Good Time, And Should Provide Many More Years Of Excellent Service!!

This shot shows you the front of the Gold Demi-Hunter Case. There are Roman Numerals engraved into the Demi-Hunter Pair Case, and you can tell the time trough the small hole in the center, while the watch is still protected, as it would be as if it were in a Hunter Case. The benefit of a Demi-Hunter, like this one, is that the watch is protected and you can still see the time!

This view shows you the that both the Demi-Hunter Pair Case and the watch, are actually separate pieces. The benefit of them being used together has already been pointed out & is obvious enough, but they can easily be used separately, if you should please to.

This view shows the front of just the watch, which can be worn with or without the Demi-Hunter Case. It also gives you a good view of the dial & hands. There are also some minor hairlines on the dial, which basically go unnoticed.

With the bezel of this watch open, you get a slightly better view of the dial & the Louie XIV hands.

The cover for the watch fits together so well, that there is no additional space that wasn't there when they made the watch.

This is an overall shot of the back of the watch with both the Back Cover and the Dust Cover open.

The watch has not been abused. Take a good look at this movement, so you can see that it's still in "like new" condition!

This shows the watch's Dust Cover, where you are able to both wind and set the time of the watch. This is a very convenient feature to have, as it simplifies setting the time of the watch very much! It also shows that the watch has a Cylinder Escapement & 4 Steine or an actual translation from the German is "Stones" or in this usage, 4 Jewels.

The case number for the watch is found on the back cover.

The back of the watch's case is in excellent condition with only normal wear from the last Century & a Quarter of its life.

The back of the watch's Pair Case is in great condition also!

The back of both the Pair Case and that of the watch case are still in great condition!

There is a picture of a rearing Horse on the inside of the back of the Watch's Case. This is the insignia that Herr Carl Engelkemper of Muenster & Westfalia, Germany used to identify the Watches & Jewelry that he made. He was a large enough concern, that he sold these on both the Wholesale and Retail levels.

There is a close-up of the picture of the rearing Horse, that we just showed.

Well, that's all I can say. The Photos will tell you what you really want to know about the watch anyway, at least that's what I focus on first!

The price for this piece is $295.00

This Pocket Watch would make a very nice gift to that special someone, even if that "special someone" is you and your own collection!!

The picture was taken on Ford Island, which is the land mass in the middle of
Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i. Ford Island is better known as the home for "Battleship Row".
The sneak attack on Pearl Harbor was centered on Battleship Row.
My canine "Son" shown in this picture is called "Verge", after the Verge Escapement!
