18 size 17 Jewel Elgin G.M. Wheeler Pocket Watch

Serial#: 10,248,798                        Circa: 1903

Case: 18 size, Open Face, Silverine, Plain Case With Ribbed Sides on the Edge of Each Bezel & a Brass Train is Engraved Into the Back. The Crystal is Glass.
Dial: White, Porcelain, Single Sunk, Roman Numerals, Spade Hands, Signed; "Elgin, Made In USA (Made In USA is slighted faded)".

Movement: 17 jewels, Stem Set, Lever Escapement, Full Nickel plates, signed; "G.M. Wheeler; Elgin, Ill. USA; Safety Pinion; Adjusted; 17 Jewels" all written in script, Beautifully Scalloped Damaskeening, and a Micro Regulator to adjust the time very precisely! Overall, it's a very beautiful Movement!

Professional Opinion: Nice solid 18 size Elgin with a very good heft to it, the watch runs well & has a very attractive Brass Train engraved into the back of the case.

The Dial is a Pure White with
BIG, BLACK, BOLD Roman numerals.
The Cobalt Blue hands are mint.
This is just a Great Looking Dial!


An absolutely Perfect Dial!
No Hairlines, Chips or Cracks
to diminish the dial in any way!
The watch is Lever-Set by the Number 1.
Just imagine looking at this perfect dial
whenever you looked at your watch!!


The covers fit together so well, that any space between the covers is almost imperceptible!
The details are all very sharp & crisp!


This watch
has not been abused in any way.
Just take a good look at this movement.
All of the black enamel lettering is present.
This movement is in Pristine condition!
The movement is marked:
G.M. Wheeler; Elgin, Ill. USA; Safety Pinion; Adjusted; 17 Jewels.


The back case shows some wear, but the Brass Train that has been engraved into the back of the case, still shows up very beautifully! Much better than I was able to photograph....
so I tried three shots!


The inside of the back of the Case is marked "Dueber; Silverine; Canton O", along with the many marks of the Tradesmen who have worked
on it over the years.

The picture was taken on Ford Island, which is the land mass in the middle of
Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i. Ford Island is better known as the home for "Battleship Row".
The sneak attack on Pearl Harbor was centered on Battleship Row.
Btw, my canine "Son's" name is Verge, after the Verge Escapement.
