Professional Opinion:  This watch was made in the third quarter of Elgin's second year of being in business!! Considering the very, very low Serial Number, that makes this watch a very, very rare & collectable Pocket Watch and a great piece to add to your collection!! These pieces don't come around very often, so take advantage of them when they do!

Hello, And Thank You
For Taking The Time To Look At Our Listing!

The History of Elgin's H. H. Taylor: The very first H.H. Taylor Pocket Watch was made in Nov., 1867 with a serial number of 25,001. This H.H. Taylor has a serial number of 36,163, or 11,162 watches later, or roughly 8 months later. You can also look at this watch as being made roughly 16 months into Elgin's History with all of Elgin's watches being considered. So this is a very early piece in Elgin's History and therefore, an exceedingly rare piece!! Lastly, this watch is in the original case & in fact, everything about this watch is all original!!

Aside from the dial being a little dirty, its in excellent condition!! There are no Hairlines, cracks, or any type of mar to distract from the perfection of the dial! Also, the Crystal is made from Glass!

The bezel of this watch is hinged, so it's very easy to lift, to set the time or just to access the dial. The dial also has NATIONAL WATCH Co. printed in the center of the dial & by lifting the bezel, you can see how perfect the dial is!

On the inside of the front cover of the Hunters Case is very clean and undamaged. There's a small marking, but I'm unable to make it out.

The sides of the watch fit together very well, so any break between the plates is almost imperceptable. Also, you can see the classic & unique Octagon sides, which have varying designs on them to further enhance the beauty of the watch! You can also see the lines that enhance the Crown and give this watch yet another very unique feature!

This picture shows the Winding Hole in the Dust Cover and again the unique attributes of the Crown and the Octagon Sides!!

This is a straight on shot of the Winding Hole in the Dust Cover & the uniqueness of the Crown!

Aside from the water marks from the last time the movement was cleaned, the movement is in very good condition! It has 15 Jewels, full, solid Brass Plates, and the movement is marked: H. H. Taylor, Elgin, Ill.; Patent and the Serial # 36,163

The front of the case has a decorative elongated triangular design with Scalloped work around its outside and hash marks on the inside, that has been slightly worn down over the last ~140 years of the watch's life. Besides that, the front of the case, just like the back of the case, is in very good condition!

The back of the case is in excellent condition with only normal wear from normal use over
the last ~140 years of its life!

Well, that's all I can say. The Photos will tell you what you really want to know about the watch anyway, at least that's what I focus on first!

The price for this piece is $400.00

This Pocket Watch would make a very nice gift to that special someone, even if that "special someone" is you and your own collection!!
