Hello, And Thank You
For Taking The Time To Look At Our Listing!
Elgin's first watch was the B. (Benjamin) W. Raymond, who was one of the initial founders and was also once the
Mayor of Chicago, was sold for ~$115 on April 1, 1867. Just to give you an example of one of the stringent standards placed on
these Railroad Grade watches was that could only have a minimum variance of 30 seconds per week!
The Dial is Snowy White with BIG, BOLD numerals.
The Cobalt Blue hands are mint.
What a Great Looking Dial!
A Great Dial!
Two very minor hairlines, which almost go unnoticed, No Chips or Cracks.
Just imagine
looking at this perfect,
Snowy White dial whenever
you looked at your watch!!
The The movement is in excellent condition, with no scratches, abrasions, etc. Its a Grade #478, with a
total production run of 184,320 watches with a
Gold Center Wheel; 21 (Ruby) Jewels in Gold Jewel Settings adjusted to 5

The Balance Wheel has such great speed that it's simply a blur, even at the speed the camera catches it at! The
21 Ruby Jewels is delicately curved around the balance wheel, the Serial #30,689,450, equates to roughly 1928. Then underneath the
the balance wheel, you can see where it says "ELGIN NAT'L WATCH CO. USA". On top of the Movement, it says "B. W. Raymond" in
Gold letters, then 21 Jewels, the watch's Serial Number, and finally it says "Adjusted to 5 Positions".
The covers fit together so well, that any space between the covers is almost imperceptable!
(the Front Cover
is not screwed on in this photo)
All details are sharp & crisp!
There is no Brass showing anywhere on the Case!
The watch has not been abused. The case is in very good to excellent condition with only some minor wear &
scuff marks on the back. The back case is in excellent condition with only normal wear from normal use over the last 80+ years of
its life.
The watch has not been abused. The case is in very good to excellent condition with only some minor scuff marks

Well, that's all I can say. The Photos will tell you what you really want to know about the watch anyway.
