Hello, And Thank You
For Taking The Time To Look At Our Listing!
Just As A Note, The Clock Is Running Fine, Keeping Good Time, And Should Provide Many More Years Of Excellent Service!!
To say that the front of the Clock is Impressive, is a Drastic understatement!! Just look at the Scroll
Work Inlayed Brass in the top two corners, the Inlayed Brass going across the top & bottom, and then down the sides too! Then to have
an Alabaster Dial, with Enamel/Porcelain Roman Numerals inlayed in Gold!! What else can I say??
You have a Two Century
Old Piece of Art!!
The Measurements of the clock are as follows:
Top - 12 3/4"
Middle - 11 1/8"
Bottom - 12 3/4"
Height - 23 1/2"
Depth
Middle - 5"
Top & Bottom - 5 1/2"
Dial - 8 1/8"
Dial & Bezel - 8 7/8"
Pendulum
Length - 13"
Pendulum Bob
Width - 4 1/4"
Heigth - 6"
This gives you a closer view of the Brass Inlay work & the Alabaster Dial, with the Gold Escutcheons and the
Porcelain Tiles, which the Roman Numerals are Painted on. All in all, it's one Beautiful and Amazing Clock & I have NEVER
seen the likes of one before!!
A Close-Up of the Beautiful and Exacting Artwork done to Inlay the Brass. The Brass is actually flat Brass
strips, that were delicately hammered into place to form the ever so beautiful artwork that you see in front of you now!! Can you
just imagine the patience, skill and talent it would take to do something like this?? It's something that you would only find in
the pride of a Cottage Industry, where your work & your reputation was everything!!
With the door open, you get a slightly better idea of how the clock looks, but since the door is made entirely of
Antique Glass, its almost the same as seeing the clock with the door shut!
A close-up of this ever so beautiful Alabaster Dial (Alabaster of the type used in this Two Hundred Year Old Dial,
is a name applied to calcite (a carbonate of calcium). Alabaster is relatively soft and can be scratched with a knife). You can
see the beautifully intricate Gold Escutcheons & the White Porcelain Tiles where the Roman Numerals were painted.
With the Dial & Movement removed, you can see the "Knife Blades" that the Movement mounts on top of, and
there is a screw on each Knife Blade, to hold the Movement firmly in place!! You can also see the Pendulum much more clearly. There are Lions on
either side of the Pendulum Bob and you can see the beauty of the Grain in the Walnut Case!! The 13" measurement that I gave earlier
in the Description, was measured from the bar going across the Pendulum Rods, just beneath the area where the Knife Blades cross the
Pendulum Rod.

This gives you a good idea of what the back of the Movement looks like. The round wheel on the right, is what's
called a "Counting Wheel" and counts out the length or number of chimes that the clock will chime when the clock hits different parts
on the count wheel. You can also see the Hammer that strikes the "Coiled Gong" and a small circular stamp at the bottom that
says, "JAPY FRERES - ANNEES", then on the outside of the circular stamp, it says, "MEDAILLES D'OR - 1823 - 27 - 34394449". Which
basically translated means that Japy Freres, who was a very reknown Clock Maker in France, won a Gold Medal
for this design in 1823. Not a bad statement to be made for this Wonderous Clock.

This is the side of the Movement and shows you a few very important items. First you can see how thick the
Brass Plates are that make up the Movement. The thicker the plates, the higher quality the Movement, so we're off to a very good
start! The only other item that I'll mention, is the "Fork" that fits into the center of the Pendulum Rod. Lastly, you
can see the great amount of Brass that was used, which indicates a well built Movement!! The reason I said that this Clock should be
able to run a Month, is because of a very old note I found inside the clock when I purchased it. The note is from the 'Desk of Bill
Wells' and says, "White Alabaster Clock.....Signed on Mount & Inside of Dial, "30 Day Running". Listed in Watch & Clockmakers
as from Paris - Pre-1850-Clockmaker". All of which is evident.

Just underneath the top plate, in the center of the back of the case, you can see where the hook would fit in
that holds the clock up against the wall. This is also very indicative of the originality of the clock and how well built the case
actually is!!
A full shot of the back of the case, which is Walnut, just like the rest of the case & is a good place to
end my description of this Wonderful Piece of Horology!
Well, that's all I can say. The Photos will tell you what you really want to know about the clock anyway!
