by Elsner & Petrovits!!

With a Silk Suspension!!

Circa: 1800 to 1815
Dial: Hand Painted Milk Glass Dial; Roman Numerals For The Hours; Cross Bar Diamond Hands & Finally; The Dial is signed, "Elsner & Petrovits, In Wien"

Movement: "Endless Rope System" According To Huygens; Has hanging mount with silver stick (Invar Steel; won’t expand or contract). Brass Plates; & A Pendulum Bob Regulator, Hung From A Silk Thread Suspension; Biedermier Bob!!

Case: An Rosewood 6-Window Case, Ormalu Brass on the Case, All Original Glass!!

Professional Opinion: The detail on the full columns on either side of the case is magnificent. Just look at the detail on the Corinthian tops of the columns and the base of the columns. A lot of detailed work went into the engraved piece on top of the clock. The wooden piece at the bottom of the clock also has quite a bit of detail. All of the finials and other parts of the case are original. The case is made from a very nice grade of Walnut that really makes the clock stand out! Both the pendulum and the weights are very nicely engraved and give the clock a great deal of appeal!

Hello, And Thank You
For Taking The Time To Look At Our Listing!

Just As A Note, The Clock Is Running Fine, Keeping Good Time, And Should Provide Many More Years Of Excellent Service!!

To look at the front of the Clock is a true joy!! There is absolute beauty in the simplicity of this piece and the Huygens "Weight Winding System" is a true joy to operate, because all you do to wind the clock is to pull on the Counter Weight!! This piece is the epitome of Biedermier elegance! The 6-Windowed Clock, with all Original Glass, is a thing of beauty!! And I keep thinking that for me to part with it, is an act of lunacy!!

The Measurements of the clock are as follows:

Top - 10 1/4"
Middle - 8 1/2"
Bottom - 8 1/2"
Heigth - 34 3/4"
Depth
           Top - 4 3/8"
           Middle & Bottom - 3 3/4"

Length - 20" (from the bottom of the Dial)

           Diameter - 5 1/4"

           Counter Weight - 5 1/2 ounces

This side shot of the Huygens allows you to see all 6 Windows & the fine color of this beautiful Ash case!

The empty case shows you that the Huygens is still in excellent condition, even after 160+ years! The case is ultra clean and has been cared for by loving owners for over 8 generations!! On the back of the Case, near the top, you can see the the pin on which the Movement is attached to.

A close up shot of the hook on the back of the case. This is the hook that supports the Movement.

A Perfect Glass Dial, with Red Filigrees between each Roman Numeral & the Cross Bar Diamond Hands! As the dial is glass, you would instantly know if any harm had come to the dial. But this one is in excellent condition!!

The Gears, Silk Suspension, and Pendulum Rod of the Movement are obvious from this shot. A very clean and well designed system, and Huygens is still noteworthy & very sought after today!!

The back of the dial & the movement shows you the clean exactness of the Brass used to make this glorious clock. The thickness of the Brass Plates used in the movement, gives you an indication of how well the clock was built!

You can also see the loop, where the clock hangs on the upright pin that is attached to the back of the clock case. Its important to have the case leveled, and then to adjust the level of the movement, or you can even move the clock case, to get the clock to be evenly in beat!!

The top of the backboard of the case as it actually looks, this also shows you the fine grain of the Ash case and also shows you the old tried & true system for hanging these clocks from the wall. You just place the hook that you have secured to the wall, in through the piece of metal that has been laid across the indentation on the back of the clock.

Here you can see the entire back of the clock, having been cut from one piece of wood and even after over 160 years, the backboard is still sound, just as the day the clock was made
by Elsner & Petrovits!!

Well, that's all I can say. The Photos will tell you what you really want to know about the clock anyway, at least that's what I focus on first!

The price for this piece is $9,750
