Antique Clocks, Pocket Watches, Etc.

A Ball Clock, With an Overhead Hanging Pendulum Bob That Regulates The Time & All of This is Under a Large Glass Dome & Sits on a Solid Walnut Base!

Date: Circa 1875
Dial: The Dial is Actually on The "Ball" Itself! Time is Adjusted by Adjusting the Pendulum Bob, But A Very Little Adjustment Goes a Very Long Way!!

Movement: The Movement is housed within the Blue cover of the Ball. The Movement is a Time & Strike movement and the clock has a very, very nice & sweet chime!!

Case: The "Case" is the Round Blue "Ball" With Gold Numerals & Spade Hands, Which Sits on a Solid Walnut Base and has Three Gold Plated Bars Forming the Structure That Holds The Pendulum Bob above the Ball/Movement. The Pendulum Bob Then Engages the Silver "Spinning Hand" that Regulates the Time!! All of This Has a Very Large Glass Dome Sitting on Top of it!

Profesional Opinion: This is a Very Unique Clock, Indeed!! There were less than 100 of these made, if even that many. So if you are looking for a clock that will appreciate in value, this is the clock for you!! This is the Type of Clock That You Don't See Very Often, if at all, except in Museums and that's if they even have one!!

Hello, And Thank You
For Taking The Time To Look At Our Listing!

Just As A Note, The Watch Is Running Fine, Keeping Good Time, And Should Provide Many More Years Of Excellent Service!!

The Dial is made up of Gold Numerals and Gold Spade Hand that are sitting on the front of the Blue "Ball", that is actually the Clock's Movement!
The Gold Spade Hands are in Excellent Shape.
Truly, what a Unique Dial!

A picture of the clock on its walnut base, sitting next to its large glass dome! Domes of this sort sell of a few thousand dollars just by themselves!! The clock sits on Adjustable Brass Feet, which are underneath a Red Marble Base, which then is in a chrome "cradle" holding the Blue Ball/Movement, from there, its has Three Gold Plated Bars forming a triangle from which hangs a Plum Bob, or in more clock terms, a type of Pendulum Bob. Very slight adjustments to this "Bob" will adjust the time on the clock, but you have to make sure that the adjustments are made in very small increments and only in very small increments. Otherwise, you will have a very hard time trying to get the clock back to keeping the proper time!!

A Good Shot of the Front of the Clock,
with the Dome off.

At the very pinnacle of where the three bars meet to hold up the Pendulum Bob, there is a Silver Screw holding them together. From there is a hook to hold the Pendulum Bob from. The Pendulum Bob is made from Gold Braided wire that is twisted together. The Pendulum Bob hangs from the end of that Gold Braided wire!

This Ball Clock is primarily controlled by the Pendulum Bob controlling the Large Silver Hand on the top of the Blue Ball/Movement. The way this clock needs to run is to hhave the Pendulum Bob slowly rotate around the ceneter of the Large Silver Hand. This is easily worked out, once you take the time to properly balance the clock, after that and possibly with a VERY slight adjustment of the Pendulum Bob, the clock will run with no problems at all!!

A very nice close po shot of the Large Silver Hand, which controls the speed of the clock & a nice shot of the Blue ball/Movement with the immaculate Golden Hands!.

A side shot of the full clock, especially showing how the Chrome Cradle holds the Movement and how the general set-up of the clock works.

A good shot of the Red Marble base which the clock sits on, the bottom of the Chrome Cradle, and the Three Brass adjusting feet, which allow you to properly level the clock. Properly leveling the clock, is THE most important element of running the clock, next to winding the clock!

This is the solid Walnut base that supports the clock and which the Large Glass Dome sits on!!

There is a slight crack on the bottom of the glass dome. The crack was mended by a company that blows glass domes, and other glass pieces, so it has an excellence in working with glass on its very elementary method. Therefore, that crack is patched so strong, that its stronger that the rest of the glass would be, i.e. it will NEVER come apart on you!

A clear shot of the back of the clock, showing everything from the three adjusting feet, to the initial Chrome Base, to the Red Marble base, the chrome cradle that holds the Movement, and then finally the three Gold Plated bars, which form a triangle, which finally supports the gold threaded rope/wire that supports the Pendulum Bob, which brings us back full circle!!

Well, that's all I can say. The Photos will tell you what you really want to know about the clock anyway, at least that's what I focus on first!

The price for this piece is $11,500, while its "true" price should be closer to $15,000
This piece was appraised by Solvang Antique Center, in Solvang, CA. for $13,000 6 years ago! I lowered the price, just so I could move the piece quickly, even though the uniqueness of the piece should sell it on its own!!
