An 8-Day Hebdomas Sterling Silver Pocket Watch
       - The Case Was Made in Birmingham, England

Circa: 1908

Case:   16 size, Open Face, Sterling Silver case with a Sterling Silver Bow. On the inside of the back of the Case it says, "Dennison Watch Case Co.", which is out of England & the Company who made the Watch Case.

Dial:   This is an almost Perfect Dial, White Porcelain, a Circular Chapter Ring which is surrounded by Silver dots, Arabic numerals, "Spade" Style Hands & the Dial is Marked; "8 Days", in the center of the dial. The Dial also has two Silver Vines with two Blue Flowers on each and one Yellow Flower on each. On the left side of the Balance Wheel you can see R (Retard) & S (Slow) & A (Advance) F (Fast) on the right.

Movement:   This Movement has 7 Jewels, which is the typical number of Jewels for the Hebdomas's. The Watch's Case was made in England, which you don't see very often at all, and the Movement was imported from Switzerland. The Movement also has a Lever Escapement and Excellent Movement on the Balance Wheel!

Professional Opinion:  Long running watches have always been in demand. 8-Day watches like this one, especially being made from Sterling Silver, are exceptionally rare and will run as long as any watch that I have ever heard of. This watch is in excellent shape, runs well, and keeps excellent time! Also, going by the date on the case, this would be one of the earlier Hebdomas's, since they were made roughly from 1900 to 1960's. So if you're in the market for a Sterling Silver Watch that you only have to wind once per week, then this is the watch for you!

Hello, And Thank You
For Taking The Time To Look At Our Listing!

Just As A Note, The Watch Is Running Fine, Keeping Good Time, And Should Provide Many More Years Of Excellent Service!!

The White Porcelain Dial is in excellent condition! There are a few very minor hairlines, which pretty much go unnoticed, but there are no cracks or anything to mar its beauty! Also, the exposed Escapement (Balance Wheel) adds motion to the dial, which makes it all the more attractive!

This shot gives you a better view of the dial. As you can see, the Balance Wheel has excellent motion! In addition to having excellent motion, since the Balance Wheel is exposed, it really adds a lot of attraction to the watch!

The covers fit together so well that the
watch seems as if were almost new!

The Spring for an 8-Day watch is its mainstay
and this one is in excellent condition and
provides the power to keep excellent time
& the watch running for 8 days!

On the inside of the watch's back cover you can see that the case was made by the Denison Watch Case Co.; the Lion Passant on the very top, stands for Sterling Silver or what the Case is made from; then we have the Anchor & the "i", which represents the Case as being made in 1908 & the Case was made in Birmingham; and finally, the initials, A.L.D., which are the "Case Makers" initials. As previously mentioned, the Case was made by the Dennison Watch Case Co. and the case makers' initials, "A.L.D." represent Dennison & Wrigley and were entered by Franklin Dennison, Villa Road, Handsworth, 19 DEC 1905. He is also listed as being from the Denison Watch Case Co., at 40 terrace Road & 234 Soho Hill, Birmingham. Since we had the Anchor and the "i", representing Birmingham and 1908, it would be the Birmingham address that would concern us. The Movement, was of course, imported from Switzerland.

The back of the case is smooth, with three small dimples. But like the rest of the watch, its in very good condition. All in all, this watch is in very good condition & with the information that we have been able to unearth, we are confident of where this watch was made (Birmingham), who made the watch case (Dennison), and where the watch was made (Switzerland).

Well, that's all I can say. The Photos will tell you what you really want to know about the watch anyway.

The price for this piece is $395.00

This Pocket Watch would make a very nice gift to that special someone, even if that "special someone" is you and your own collection!!
