Very Rare 8-Day Junghans Mantle Clock Keeps Very Good Time Beautiful Hand Painted Wooden Case The Clock Is In Great Shape!! It Runs Well and Keeps Great Time !

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to look at our listing! This Junghans Mantle clock is housed in a wooden case that is adorned with hand painted flowers. I've owned 60 or 80 Junghans clocks, but I have never owned or even seen in shows, catelogs, etc. a case that wasanything even closely resembling this case ! My guess is that the case was made circa 1860 to 1870. The flowers are located on the top, bottom, and sides of the case, as well as at 4 positions around the dial. The porcelain dial is flawless (i.e. no cracks or hairlines, what-so-ever) The clock has very decorative moldings along the bottom of the case, as well as at the top and bottom of the insets on ether side of the dial. Also, to the best of my knowledge, the finials are all original. The clock measures 17 ¼ inches high, 23 ¼ inches wide at the base, and 6.5 inches deep. It will run for 8-days and strikes the hour & half-hours on a coiled gong. The movement is also marked with the Junghans star, to verify that this is indeed, a true Junghans clock. A Little History About Junghans:The Junghans family lived on the Nekar River in Horb, Germany. The family name dates back to 1696. Once the largest clock company in the world, this Black Forest clock-making firm produced some of the most interesting and popular clocks ever made. In 1859, Erhard Junghans purchased land in Schramberg, to build an oil-seed mill. However, in 1861, the business was converted to make clock parts and later entire clocks. This clock is a product of that evolution. I've had this clock ticking on my table in my foyer for several years now. It has always run faithfully and has kept very good time. It will surely will be missed, but I'm just running out of room! The clock also comes with its own key, so once you buy the clock, you'll be all set ! The price also varies according to size, with this clock being $125 and up to a Triple weight, which would be $150.
