Hello & Welcome to

8-Day Ball Clock
Made in Paris, France Circa 1870

This clock measures 21" in height and the base measures 9 ¾" in diameter. The clock runs for 8 days and chimes on the hour and half-hours. The base of the clock is red Marble and the clock and dome rest on a Walnut base. The raised numbers are brass, as are the hands.

The movement is your typical round French movement. Since it has a count wheel, I put the date of the clock as pre-1870. The movement is also stamped Medalille D'or or Gold Medal and under that are the initials GLT, SCDG, and the location it was made - Paris (France).

The clock works when the movement applies power to the small hand on the top of the "ball". you then start the clock working by pushing the hanging "spear" into a rotating motion. To adjust the speed of the clock, you simply screw the "spear" clockwise to make it go faster or counterclockwise to make it go slower. Overall, its a very interesting clock!
