Late Empire Period to Early Biedermier Period 60-day Vienna Regulator by Philipp Fertbauer - Circa 1810
This one weight Early Biedermier 60-day Vienna Regulator was made by Philipp Fertbauer
in Wien (Vienna) Austria circa 1810. Philipp Fertbauer was listed as a Viennese
Master in 1795. In Victor Kochaver's book, "Beautiful Vienna Regulator's of
the 19th Century" he quotes Hans von Bertele as saying about Philipp
Fertbauer, "This name belongs to one of the best Viennese clockmakers during the
period of 1800 to 1850.".
The clock has a flat porcelain dial and the case is six windowed with
Holly banding strips on a Rosewood case. The clock has the original carved crest
on top of the door, a flat porcelain dial with a Biedermier Pie Crust bezel, a
brass weight, and a two-piece brass bob. The Rosewood case is in mint condition
and measures 42" x 11 ¼" x 4 ½" and the dial is 6 3/8" in diameter.
