Austrian Miniature Cathedral Clock
Biedermier Style

This clock was made to look like a Cathedral and only stands 5" tall by 3 ¾" wide by 2 5/8" deep. The clock is wound from the back, runs for 30 hours, and has a Pig Tail Pendulum. In Claterbos's "Viennese Clockmakers and What They Left Us", there is also a very similar clock on page 111. That clock is called a Viennese "Zappler" and differs from this one in that it has a cylinder escapement (this one has a verge escapement). It derives its name from the high frequency of swinging of the visible pendulum.
