8-Day Miniature Viennese Grande Sonnierie
Circa 1835

This miniature Viennese Grande Sonnierie was made in Wien (Vienna) Austria. From the name on the gong, you can tell that it (the gong) was made by F. Kunz, in Wien. The clock measure 33" in overall length, 11" wide at the top, 5" deep, it has a 17" Invar steel pendulum rod, a 4" pendulum bob, a 6" flat porcelain dial, and a 15.5" drop (from the center of the dial to the bottom of the case).

The total distance from the bottom of the seat board to the bottom of the case is 12". From the top of the pulleys to the bottom of the weights is 4.5", so the total possible amount of drop for the weight is 7.5" The weights drop ~ 6" in 7 days, or ~.9"/day. So its fully an 8 day clock, even with some variance allowed. This is without a doubt, a very amazing miniature!
